Sunday morning I woke up on a mission! I've been wanting to go bold, dark and moody with one of the rooms in our new house and I finally decided the dining room was the perfect place. I've been pinning tons of dark moody blues and greens for the past few months at least, building up to the moment when I'd finally get the time and courage to give it a go.

This whole room took me about a day's work and $30! The transformation was worth every bit of effort and money!

I rushed myself out the door to Lowes on Sunday morning determined to get the project finished that day. Pulling the trigger on the exact color was-and always seems to be- the most difficult part. I forced myself to just get in line and make the decision as soon as the man asked me which color I wanted.

Green is my favorite color so I had been leaning towards the dark green tones initially, but as my dining room is open to my living room I felt a bit nervous about going with a color that wasn't in that area yet. My rug, which is the focal point of my living room has a lot of blue in it so I was considering going with a dark blue instead. I knew the blue would be the safest option and that it was probably some sort of design fopaux to choose a color just because I loved it.

So when the man at the counter asked me which color I'd like to go with I panicked silently for about 30 seconds and then went with my gut. I wanted a green wall dang it! So I went with "Corriander & Olive." I bought it in the Valspar Paint + Primer with an eggshell finish. I have linked it below, it was just over $20 and I figured for $20 I could paint it again if the green really didn't go.

The moral of this story being, if you're about to go bold with a color as well don't stew over it for too long. Go with what feels right and makes you the most excited. If your gut turns out to be 100% wrong, you're only out $20 it won't be the end of the world.

I am SO happy with how this room turned out! It gives the dining room and living room a bit of separation & allows me to have two totally different design styles right next to each other. The dining room is warm and cozy now and I can't wait for how it will feel this winter and especially for Christmas! Meanwhile my living room still feels light and airy so I don't feel like I've lost anything by going from white paint to dark green.

Let me know what you think about the update & if you have any projects of your own going on!
